On Wednesday mornings (September-June) Rev. Patrick leads a casual conversation about a selected Bible passage over a cup of coffee or tea. Usually the passage chosen is from the selection of readings for the upcoming Sunday services. The study begins around 11:20am (after the 10:30am service) and goes to noon. Everyone is welcome to stay for a simple soup and bread lunch.
Another opportunity for learning about scripture together is the Women’s Bible Study. A friendly group of women gathers on Thursday afternoons for a couple months in the Spring and in the Fall. The group shares and reflects on Bible passages using a discussion guide chosen by the group.
During the Lenten season, as we prepare for Easter, a special interest course is offered. In the past these courses have varied greatly and can cover any number of subjects. Typically the course would run one evening per week for 5 or 6 weeks.
Alpha has its roots in the Church of England and has been an important tool for spreading knowledge and interest in Christian theology for over two decades. Christ Church Seaway has participated in Alpha courses in the past. Now that the program has been updated and simplified, we are joining up with the parish of South Dundas in 2017 to explore Alpha as a part of Christ Church’s ministry again.
On the first Tuesday of each month (October-May) men have the chance to gather for an early 7am breakfast at the Waterview Restaurant in Long Sault. During the meal, conversation is light and friendly. Often there is also the chance to hear from a guest speaker.
