Local Outreach

Prayers and Squaresimg_5469
For over a decade several members of Christ Church Seaway and our local community have gathered to prayerfully create quilts for anyone in need of prayer and support. To date, over 600 quilts have been assembled, prayed over, and given to people in need of prayer. Prayers and Squares is part of a large network of quilting ministries that can be found in church communities throughout North America. New quilters are always welcome to join. The group meets most Wednesdays at 1:00pm in the church hall. No experience necessary.

Trinity Drop-In
For several years Trinity Anglican Church in Cornwall has provided parcels of food to those in need. In recent months this quiet ministry has expanded to provide many grocery parcels every month, as well as making space for social interaction and recreation for guests of the program. Christ Church Seaway is working with Trinity Cornwall to support this ministry through food donations and volunteer support.

Children’s Aid Society
At Christmas the Children’s Aid Society distributes gifts to kids and youth under the agency’s care. Christ Church collects gifts through this Christmas Star program and passes them on to CAS so they can be given to children in need of an extra sign of care.

Diocesan Community Ministries
As part of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, we support the community ministries of Centre 454, Cornerstone/Le Pilier, St. Luke’s Table, the Ottawa Pastoral Counseling Centre, and The Well/La Source. These are nationally recognized leaders in providing essential services to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. The diocese is currently looking into ways of expanding these and similar programs to areas outside of Ottawa’s urban core.

Other Local Outreach
From time to time Christ Church Seaway also has the chance to provide financial and material support to other agencies in our area. We regularly volunteer with and raise funds for Baldwin House, Children’s Treatment Centre, Carefor Hospice Cornwall, and other groups. We are always looking for new ways to reach out to our community and serve those in need together.
